COMMON QUESTIONS
How long is Mental Health First Aid training?
The full course is 14 hours of content, usually taken as two full days. It can also run virtually as four separate blocks of up to four hours, which helps if you cannot lose two whole days from the rota. The Refresher is four hours.
Is MHFA training accredited?
Yes. We are licensed MHFA England Instructor Members, so this is the official Mental Health First Aid course rather than an equivalent. Certification lasts three years and includes membership of the Association of Mental Health First Aiders and three years' access to the MHFAider Support App.
How many people can attend?
Between 10 and 16 on the full course, and 8 to 25 on the Refresher. The upper caps are set by MHFA England so instructors can keep everyone safe and supported.
Can Mental Health First Aid be delivered virtually?
Yes. Both the full course and the Refresher run online or face to face, delivered live by an instructor rather than pre-recorded.
How much does Mental Health First Aid training cost?
GBP 325 + VAT per person plus GBP 40 for materials on the full course. The Refresher is GBP 150 + VAT per person plus GBP 28 materials. As a non-profit social enterprise, our surplus funds free mental health support across the hospitality industry.
How often does MHFA certification need renewing?
Every three years. The four-hour MHFA Refresher renews both certification and Association membership for a further three years.
