VOICES FROM OUR COMMUNITY
In hospitality, it’s rarely about what we say we do – it’s about what people feel after they’ve worked with us.
This page brings together feedback from leaders, teams and partners who’ve attended our training, brought us into their businesses, used our services, or collaborated with us.
In this video, Marco Galer-Reick, Vice President
U.K. Strategy Enablement & HR at Delaware North, shares their experience of using Thrive Mental Wellbeing and partnering with The Burnt Chef Project to support their teams’ mental health.
Cubitt House Case study: in this short video, they share how partnering with The Burnt Chef Project – from raising £10,000 via menu donations to training their teams – is helping create a more supportive, sustainable workplace.
"Since training with The Burnt Chef Project, confidence levels rose from 65% to 90%. Our managers not only feel more confident but also have more awareness to look after their own mental health, leading to a healthier work environment.
It is having such a positive impact on our teams and it will be very beneficial in their workplace, leading to improved communication, increased empathy, and a healthier work environment. We would recommend the training provided by TBCP as it gave our teams a deeper understanding of mental health, leaving them equipped with invaluable knowledge and tools to support themselves and their teams with compassion and confidence. The training was clear, informative without being overwhelming.”
Janene Pretorius, Director of People & Culture
"Since partnering with The Burnt Chef Project, we’ve seen a remarkable increase in engagement with our Employee Assistance Programme. In fact, more employees accessed the service in the very first week than we saw over several years with our previous provider.
It’s been reassuring to see our people connect so quickly with the support available, and the feedback from staff has been overwhelmingly positive. We’re confident this partnership will continue to make a meaningful difference to the wellbeing of our workforce."

Marta Tacchini - Training Manager leaves her feedback on working with The Burnt Chef Project to deliver financial health training for Hoxton.
"Sarah was a great trainer with good knowledge and passion on the subject which came across in the learning as it didn't feel at any point that Sarah was reading from a script. Sarah made sure we understood the learning objectives with effective questioning but also making sure that it wasn't hard going and answering any questions in an honest and professional way. Linking through the learning was personal stories and references that helped understand the subject matter that was being taught. I would definitely recommend the course to anyone.
As a person that was more sceptical on the issue of mental health the course has changed this view and helped me understand the correct language and approach."

"At Delaware North, we create special moments in some of the biggest and most exciting venues in the world.
Just like the athletes on the pitch or the performers on stage, our team members need to look after themselves to be mentally fit to perform in a challenging environment.
We have partnered with The Burnt Chef Project so that everyone on our teams has the support they need, in good times and when things are getting tougher."

"Great sources of information on the bigger picture in terms of processes when it comes to stress and situations. I enjoyed learning about being able to realise the difference processes in terms of growth, increasing confidence and dealing with challenging and high pressure and stress situations."
Resilience Training Workshop
Adam – Bristol City Council
"I learnt to stop thinking with the negative as the first thought. I learnt to start asking people action questions when they come with a negative comment and that I will change the attitude to others mental health issues and how they deal with them."
Resilience Training Workshop
Laura Banks - Belmond
"Very interactive and easy to understand course. Sarah provided lots of great examples and engaged in constructive feedback with learners. I found it very interesting throughout both days. Definitely a great course to better understand mental health and learn how to identify and help someone in need."

“Dee has so much experience, life skills and understanding of the subject matter that you cannot help but walk out feeling confident in your own ability to handle anyone who may be struggling way
Our mental health policy will be added to our induction for new staff. I will stop trying to "fix" people instantly and I will start asking myself where I’m sitting in the 1-10, I’ve been concentrating on others way more”
Managers Mental Health Awareness
Karen – Klarent Hospitality
"Great indications on what to look out for, and identifying different mental health challenges and how to best approach them.
Really great all the resources available and this has been noted in my personal diary so that I have these to hand when needed.
From someone who works on the other side of the bar of hospitality, this is also a great insight for me. Thank you! "
Managing Mental Health in the Workplace
Rory Campbell – National Account Manager - Caravan Coffee Roasters
"The training session was fantastic, and I took away several important points. The resources available to us, such as the circle of control, ANTS and PETS, are excellent reference points. These tools are invaluable in managing high-stress situations or when you're struggling. All the information provided was brilliant and always helpful."
